Scout Master of the Year, 2000

Troop 314's Scout Master, Dave Pederson, was named Occoneechee Council's Scout Master of the Year for 2000.

Dave was our scoutmaster from 1994 until 2006. We truly appreciate his dedication, commitment, and hard work. Congratulations and Thank You to Dave Pederson!!

This flag was in our troop closet, in a box that contained plaques, awards and charters for the troop going back 25 to 30 years. When Seaton Hall was torn down to make way for the new elementary school, all of the scout items were apparently boxed up and they found their way to the scout closet in the church maintenance building. Some suggest that the flag might have been 'borrowed' from another troop. (Not that we have ever had any pranksters in the troop.) We like to think however, given the manner in which it was stored, and it's obvious age, that it was our original troop flag from the days when Our Lady of Lourdes held our charter.

There has always been a question of how did the troop celebrate it's 50th anniversary in 2005/06 when St Raphael (Raphael Hall) was only built in 1965. The old troop charters acknowledge that the troop is indeed fifty plus years old.

We have concluded that the troop must have moved to North Raleigh sometime during the period when St. Raphael was a mission church attached to OLL. At this point however, we have not found any documentation to support this or talked to anyone who was actually in the troop during this time period.

We would also like to salute the current Troop 212 in Cary. Fly your flag proudly. We will take good care of this one.
