Troop 314
Parent Meeting Minutes
December 8th, 2005
There will be no scouts meeting on Monday, December 19th. The last meeting for the year will be this Monday, December 12th, at Room 109. It is also the last day for Toys for Tots items.
Chris Poole has been elected for Scoutmaster Position. The turn over day from the current Scoutmaster, Dave Pederson, to Chris Poole will be January 9th when we resume scouts meeting for the year 2006. The parents committee will also meet mid January and decide on amount of allowance each scout will receive towards summer camp and/or troop fees according to the budget. Parents meeting will meet quarterly.
There are 4 positions in the committee that are needed to be filled: Camping Coordinator, Training coordinator, Membership Coordinator and Equipment Coordinator. These positions can be co-chaired or committees. The idea is to share responsibilities so that a position may not be a heavy burden on one person. These positions need to be filled because more adult participation and a more involved committee are necessary for our troop. Please contact Kaye Poole for applications. The troop committee is in immediate need for these positions to be filled as Dave Pederson used to handle more than one of these positions.
The Christmas Tree Sale yields 60% more profit than last year. Less expense for supplies such as netting and tags equipment has been made. This expense is expected for next year Christmas tree event. Our treasurer reminded us of extra expense out of the budget such as an extra van rental for a trip to camping or out of town which will put a dent on our budget. Camping and Field trips should be planned with the budget in mind. There were discussions on how to raise more funds when extra expenses due to a trip are anticipated. Car Wash during the month of April was an idea. To avoid renting a van, discussions on getting more parents to drive on camping trips or asking parents who do not drive to do monetary contributions towards gas expense.
Gas Reimbursement for a person who pulls the trailer on a camping trip was discussed. It was decided that a gas receipt can be turned in to Robin Thomas, the treasurer, for reimbursement.
Groceries gift cards are available for purchase monthly through Kaye Poole. Food Lion, Kroger and Lowes Food are current participators. Gift cards incentives from these stores will be put on each child’s account and will help pay for summer camp or troop fees.
