Troop 314 is open to all Scouts!
Joining criteria from the Scouts BSA:
Youth can join a Scout troop who have earned the Arrow of Light rank and are at least 10 years old, or have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old.
Troop 314 requires a full Class A uniform be worn to all troop meetings and activities unless otherwise stated. A description of this uniform is found in the BSA handbook. The Scout troop neckerchief will be supplied by the troop for all new and bridging Scouts.

Is prior Scouting experience required?
Not at all.
Do I need to live nearby?
Nope!
If I or my son is 13, is it too late to earn Eagle Scout?
Not at all. Many have joined at 13 and been successful on their trail to Eagle Scout.
How does my Scout join Troop 314?
Come for a visit!
If you know someone already involved, plan to visit with them.
If you are new, please use our contact form or email our Committee Chair to let us know which meeting night you would like to attend. Troop meetings are Monday nights but please check our calendar.
Register your Scout with the BSA and join as a member of Troop 314 (Our Committee Chair will help you with this)
Purchase the following:
Uniform shirt from the Occoneechee Scout Shop or the online Scout Shop.
Occoneechee Council patch
Troop 314 provides an official Troop 314 neckerchief, slide, and BSA Scoutbook.
Depending on the time of year of joining, Troop dues may be collected.
How often does Troop 314 meet?
Troop 314 meetings follow the traditional Wake County School schedule and are hosted on the St. Raphael campus on Monday nights @ 7:15pm.
How often does Troop 314 do events?
Generally,
One weekly scout meeting.
One campout per month.
Various activities like orienteering courses, joint cub pack events, and special parties are scattered throughout the year.
A week long BSA summer camp each year.
Annual Christmas tree & wreath sale fundraiser.
Community service is sprinkled amongst the months depending on what is available.
What does Troop 314 do during the summer break?
Each year, the troop rotates through BSA summer camps depending on availability and PLC choices.
Note: Depending on the age of the Scout, each of these camps offer High Adventure programs.
When do leadership (Patrol Leader's Council) and adult committee meetings occur?
Once every month, the Patrol Leaders Council meets after the normal 7:15pm Troop meeting.
The Troop Committee meets the second Tuesday of every other month.
